These are newly hatched carpet bugs that will be around 1 8 of an inch long and covered in coarse hairs almost like a caterpillar. Bed bugs in carpet are most common in areas behind beds and sofas. This is because most people are allergic to bed bugs but allergies to carpet beetles are rarer. Varied carpet beetles do have brown on their backs but they look more spotted or striped with white and light colored patches mixed with brown.

Don t ever skip looking for these as evidence of adults also indicates probable presence of larvae.
