Carpet Turns Brown After Cleaning

Wicking occurs during the course of drying when either soil or cellulosic material is absorbed from the base of the carpet fiber to the tips of the fiber.

Another reason these brown stains occur is that dirt that is usually deep down in the carpet resurfaces as the carpet dries.

Then try pouring some ammonia and white vinegar into the brown stain. The ammonia and white vinegar may help to pull the mildew out. They should come back out and re rinse the carpets with an acid rinse. Wicking occurs when carpet is stained deep down to the bottom of the fiber and then is moistened through cleaning.
