Carpet seams do it yourself.

Place the seam tape under the exposed edges. Latex based sealers act as a glue for fixing the edges of the seam by sticking it to the surface below. In iron the right size 4 or 6 inch designed to construct hot melt carpet seams is mandatory. The seam tape should have a center stripe or reference to keep it centered.

Seal the unruly carpet edges with a seam sealer. Drag the heated seaming iron over the tape. Complete the seam by butting both sections of the carpet together while the adhesive is still wet allowing the carpet and cushion to make contact with the tape and seam sealer at the same time. Apply seam adhesive to only one edge of the carpet.

As you move down the seam with the iron roll over the joined seam behind the iron using a seam roller to press the carpet edges into the tape adhesive and ensure they lie flat. Next make one inch cuts every two to three feet all the way through to the bottom piece. With white chalk make a line about 3 4 the width of the overlap or about 1 3 4 inches from the edge of the carpet and then cut along the line.

Set the iron on 300º 350º depending on the carpet the carpet backing and the seam tape. In this video i share an easy strategy to cut and seam carpet. Overlap two pieces of carpet at the seam by about two inches. Be sure to keep carpet fiber up and away from the seam sealer.
