I found a way around the patch to make it 100 reliable using coral fan. You will need 3 chests 3 hoppers and 1 furnace. They tried to patch carpet duplication in 1 14 but it still works sometimes. Furnaces cannot be pushed by pistons in java edition.

If the lever is off then the carpet duper and minecart item distribution for that side will be disabled. So i really like this furnace it looks really cool and modern. Just put some gold ore and coal into the chests sit back and enjoy watching how this furnace cooks gold for you in a blink of an eye. The lit furnace can be obtained in java edition only with commands such as give s minecraft furnace blockstatetag lit true although it does not appear lit in the inventory in bedrock edition the lit furnace block can be obtained only by inventory editing it always stays lit despite containing no items.

In order to collect all the items from the furnaces i use hoppers leading into droppers shooting into a water stream. To smelt with a furnace an input material and a fuel must be placed into the top left and bottom left slots of it respectively. A carpet acts like a half slab in that some blocks cannot be placed directly on top of it such as a lily pad carpets can be used as fuel. The raw ingredients for this would be 8 cobblestone 15 iron ingots and 12 logs of wood 48 planks.
